O’Donnell Deck

I couldn’t be more proud of the work on this project and the fact that my customers were so elated with the final results. This deck was only 4-5 years old, but failing miserably with a nasty acrylic solid stain applied. The customer didn’t like the idea of me using chemicals to strip the solid stain with the entire perimeter of the deck surrounded by her gardens, so there were only two options left: replace or flip the boards. Had this been a regular style deck, this job would’ve been extremely easy. But the parquet design included 11 rows, with 4 sections in each row, and 10 boards in each section for a grand total of 440 boards – all of which needed to be pried out carefully, flipped over, cleaned and stained. During the removal process I also cleared all debris from the underside to ensure the new deck would get adequate ventilation.
