The most challenging part about this job was the sheer logistics. Surfaces to be painted were the rails, spindles, baluster, wainscot, risers, skirts, door frames and baseboards on the main floor and stairwell. The customer insisted on having me spray. She hated the way the old oak was pitted and wanted to fill as much of the grain as possible. This stairway was in the main entrance as you walk in the front door. To the right was the living room, to the left was the office, kitty-corner left was the hallway leading to the kitchen and family room, and at the top of the stairwell was the upper hall with the kid’s rooms & master bedroom. As if building 2 separate plastic walls on each entrance wasn’t challenging enough, the customer did not have any wall paint, so walls needed to be masked as well. Did I also mention they just had all of their hardwoods stained, including the stairway treads, about 3 weeks prior?
